Mode of Action

Spinetoram belongs to IRAC Group 5. It acts as an allosteric modulator of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the insect nervous system. This produces abnormal nerve excitation, involuntary muscle activity, loss of coordination, paralysis and eventual death of susceptible pests.

Summit works through contact and ingestion and also provides translaminar activity through treated leaf tissue. It should not be described as a fully systemic insecticide, making uniform spray coverage important.
